What is yoga for pregnancy?
Yoga is an ancient form of exercise involving postures which stimulate the circulation, strengthen muscles, increases flexibility, focus the mind and energize the spirit. Yoga works the whole body and also improves stamina and balance and facilitates relaxation - both physical and mental which is so necessary in pregnancy and in childbirth.
The practice of pregnancy yoga is a highly focused, specialized and very gentle form of yoga; absolutely perfect for pregnant women and those wishing to conceive.
Classes are interwoven with active birth education, facts to help you make the right birth choices for you, discussion of your birth anatomy, coping with labor, breath and mental focus, and work in pairs including massage and relaxation.
Who is it for?
These classes are only for pregnant women, no partners allowed! As a general rule this gentle form of yoga is suitable for almost every woman. This class is also appropriate for women who wish to conceive as it begins to help the woman align herself with the pregnancy mindset and Universal Energy.
- Class is open to all yoga levels and stages of pregnancy.
- Please consult with your Physician/Midwife before attending class.
What do I need?
Loose, comfortable clothing with a little bit of stretch in it is all that is needed. Please bring your own yoga mat and towel. Please review the class schedule
Patricia teaches Pregnancy Yoga The Khalsa Way® which uses stretching postures, breathing, relaxation techniques & meditation from both the Hatha and Kundalini Yoga traditions to offer relief from the common discomforts of pregnancy, while strengthening the body, heart and mind. Women learn to surrender and go with the flow in preparation for labor and delivery. Patricia also offers Couples Pregnancy Yoga for Birth Preparation classes a few times per year.
